A fall weekend wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the PA Grand Canyon. The overlooks at Leonard Harrison and Colton Point State Parks offer spectacular views of Pine Creek Gorge, and fall foliage makes the scenery even more impressive. Leonard Harrison State Park also offers viewing platforms, a visitor center, and access to the Turkey Path for those looking for a more challenging hike.

Walk or Bike the Pine Creek Rail Trail
Fall temperatures are ideal for getting outside, and the Pine Creek Rail Trail provides miles of opportunities for walking and biking among the changing leaves.
Even better, Wellsboro is now directly connected to the trail! The recently completed 3.2-mile extension connects the trail to the Patterson Trailhead in downtown Wellsboro, making it easier to combine outdoor adventure with everything downtown has to offer. The Pine Creek Rail Trail was also named Pennsylvania’s 2026 Trail of the Year.
Spend Some Time Downtown
After a morning outdoors, head into historic downtown Wellsboro. Main Street’s gaslights, local shops, restaurants, and small-town atmosphere are especially inviting on a crisp fall afternoon.
Browse a local bookstore like From My Shelf Books and Gifts, pop into Pop's Culture Shoppe, grab something warm to drink, enjoy a meal, or simply take a walk through town.
Take the Scenic Route
Sometimes the best fall activity doesn't require an itinerary at all. Take a drive through Tioga County and enjoy the mountains, farmland, back roads, and colorful wooded hillsides. Stop at a roadside stand, explore a trail, visit a nearby small town, or find a quiet place to enjoy the scenery.
